They take out rallies in various parts of the city
VISAKHAPATNAM: NCC cadets took out rallies in various parts of the city on Thursday as a part of its social development programme focusing on the theme “Save the Girl Child.”
Girl cadets participating in the Combined Annual Training Camp at Naval Maritime Academy took out a rally under the auspices of NCC Directorate of Andhra Pradesh at the Ramakrishna Beach. The rally made a fervent plea against female infanticide and discrimination against the girl child.
Cadets of 2(A)CTR-NCC belonging to AU Engineering College and the Government Polytechnic at the Chemical Engineering Department of AUEC.
Director of the Centre for Equal Opportunities for Women and AUEC’s Member of the Board of Governors V.S.R.K. Prasad analysed the evil practice of sex selection and termination of foetus and implications of imbalance in male-female sex ratio.
NCC cadets took a pledge on saving the girl child. Associate NCC Officer S. Subba Rao participated.
At Mrs. AVN College, Principal A. Subba Rao flagged off a rally that covered Jalaripet, Relliveedhi and Chengalraopeta and returned to the college.
Commanding Officer of 13th Andhra Battalion P.V.S. Sagar spoke on the danger of disproportionate male, female ratio.
Company Commander N. Ramakrishna supervised the rally.
At the Ramanath Secondary School at NSTL Complex, NCC cadets of 6th (A) Air Squadron Junior Division Boys organised a rally.
Along with the cadets, students of Classes VI to X participated. School principal C.V.Narasimham flagged off the rally.
The rally went around the NSTL and NAD Kotha Road. ANO of the squadron K.S.N. Raju organised the rally.
Addressing students, Headmaster of the Port High School at Salagramapuram Ch.R.Bhaskarudu described female infanticide as uncivilised and unethical.
The rally went around the Port Quarters, Kailasapuram and Singalammapuram. School NCC Chief Officer V. Suryanarayana organised the rally under the supervision of 6 (A) Air Squadron Unit Commanding Officer Y. Prakasa Rao.
