GUNTUR: Vignan Engineering College, Vadlamudi, in Guntur district has got recognition from National Board of Accreditation, which identifies the college as one of the best in the country in teaching, facilities, equipment, and education system.
The Vignan group chairman Lavu Rathaiah at a press conference here on Wednesday announced this and said that usually institutions with a standing of about two decades get such recognition, but the Vignan Guntur campus had got the recognition for six of its programmes.
This recognition was finalised at March 16 meeting of the NBA and recently communicated to the college, he said and added that this recognition for Electrical and Electronics; Electronics and Communication; Information Technology; Chemical; Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering programmes was valid for three years.
Advantage for students
For a student passing out such accredited institution, there was an advantage of 20 to 30 per cent over others during placements, he observed. "The college has also applied for Deemed University status, which is likely to materialise within next six months."
An Incubation Centre would be set up at the Guntur campus at the earliest to provide engineering students with exposure to live projects for at least one year.
