HYDERABAD: Despite being the first and only team from India to qualify for participation at CanSat 2009, a NASA-sponsored international competition organised every year by American Astronautical Society, a team from International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-H) is still scouring for sponsors.

The total cost for a team of six persons to travel to Amarillo in Texas from June 12 to 14 is estimated at around Rs.6.51 lakh, a press statement from IIIT-H said. The competition features all aspects of an aerospace program from the preliminary design review to post mission review, and is designed to reflect various aspects of real-world missions, including telemetry requirements, communications, and autonomous operations.

The team, comprising of eight undergraduate and postgraduate students has been appreciated for its robust design and innovative approach during the earlier stages of the competition, the statement added.
