The 14th annual day of Nalanda Vidya Niketan was held on Sunday night amidst fun and frolic in which Commissioner of Income Tax K. Ajay Kumar took part as chief guest. The taxman stressed on the importance of all-round development of personality of a student right from childhood to emerge as a successful person in society. “Nalanda is following a holistic approach by encouraging sports and cultural pursuits along with education,” he said. School correspondent and secretary A. Vijaya Babu conveyed his gratitude to parents for their support. In the awards ceremony, proficiency prizes were given away to toppers in all subjects and to students who kept themselves physically and mentally fit. Best House awards, best outgoing student award and medals to the toppers in SSC and CBSE exams were presented by Mr. Vijaya Babu. The cultural programme witnessed students performing folk and rap sequences. Presenting the annual report, school Principal P.S. Sudha said that students did well both in academics and sports. “Students did well in international Olympiads and also in archery in which young Jyothi Surekha won medals ,” she added.
