Nakul, the male rhinoceros, which gave a scare to zoo visitors on Ugadi Day is cooling its heels at the sambhar enclosure at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park here.
Nakul broke free from its enclosure after breaking the side gates and jumped into the elephant enclosure and from there into the sambhar enclosure.
Director of Zoo Parks in AP P. Mallikharjuna Rao, a retired Deputy Director of the Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, Naveen, Zoo Curator G. Ramalingam, Zoo Doctor Srinivas and other officials discussed the situation in the wake of the incident.
Meanwhile, the zoo was reopened to visitors on Saturday.
“The rhino is slowly getting used to the sambhar enclosure. The side and front gates of the rhino enclosure would be removed and the wall would be sealed.
It will take another two weeks to shift the rhino into its enclosure,” Mr. Ramalingam said on Saturday.
