KADAPA: Former Minister M. Mareppa on Thursday advised Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu to stop making baseless allegations on Brahmani Industries in Kadapa district.

Speaking to newsmen at the State guest house, Mr. Mareppa accused Mr. Naidu of resorting to baseless criticism on Obulapuram iron ore mines at will. Karnataka Minister for Tourism Gali Janardhana Reddy came forward to establish Brahmani steel plant at Jammalamadugu, envisaged to generate employment to 25,000 persons, on the request of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu's remarks did not behove his stature, the former Minister alleged.

Remarking that dissidence had become rampant in the ruling party, Mr. Mareppa demanded that Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy be made Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president to remedy the situation.

Chief Minister K. Rosaiah was facing criticism on his rule and officials were taking advantage of the situation and amassing money by creating fictitious bills, he alleged.

Backlog vacancies

Lauding the UPA Government for introducing the Women Reservation Bill in Parliament, he said Mr. Naidu was “dreaming” of regaining power in the next elections. He demanded enactment on micro-classification of Scheduled Castes and demanded constitution of a cell to find a solution to the demand on the micro-classification issue.

The former Minister demanded filling of backlog vacancies in the State.
