TDP district unit president A. Baswa Reddy said the ongoing protest of their leader N. Chandrababu Naidu at New Delhi was not against the separate Telangana State.

“The New Delhi deeksha is aimed at seeking justice to Seemandhra region and there is nothing against Telangana,” he said.

Condemning the damage to NTR statue at Narasampet, the TDP leader said that Mr. Naidu held discussions with the Telangana TDP leaders before embarking on his ongoing protest.

Mr. Naidu did not go back on his promise made to the Telangana people and did not deny giving a letter of support for separate Telangana. “There is no second thought on supporting the Telangana cause,” Mr. Baswa Reddy asserted.

Since the party has strong cadre both in Telangana and Seemandhra regions, Mr. Naidu aims at protecting their interests. He was trying to pressurise the Central government to address the apprehensions of Seemandhra people arising out of bifurcation of State and hence the protest.

“If the TDP speaks against Telangana and opposes its creation, the party leaders in Telangana would quit without any further thinking,” Mr. Baswa Reddy said. He strongly condemned Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) polit bureau member Kadiam Srihari’s remarks against the TDP and its president wherein he called Mr. Naidu ‘politically bankrupt’.
