He expected to complete 2,000 km walk in the district
Buoyed by its handsome performance in the just concluded cooperative elections, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is working with greater vigour for making its president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Vastunna Meekosam Padayatra in the district which is set to begin in Mangalagiri constituency, a grand success.
Mr. Naidu’s walkathon will start at Undavalli Centre around 11 a.m on Wednesday and his first major stopover will be at Mangalagiri from where he will proceed towards Chinakakani, Kaza and Pedakakani later in the day.
Elaborate arrangements were made to accord a rousing reception to Mr. Naidu who is expected to complete 2,000 km of his marathon walk in the district. He will be walking through eight Assembly constituencies for 15 days at less than 10 km per day due to acute pain in one of his legs. It was in August 2012 when Mr. Chandrababu Naidu had last toured the district. The issue then was the scandalous allotment of lands for the VANPIC project that incurred the wrath of the TDP supremo.
His present tour is targeted at the Congress government’s failures in general.
He will be also making specific mention of some issues concerning the district like the water crisis in Krishna Western Delta and witch-hunting of his party leaders in the recent past.
Mr. Naidu will be touring approximately 150 kilometres in Guntur West & East (all major localities in Guntur city), Mangalagiri, Ponnur, Prathipadu, Repalle, Tenali and Vemuru constituencies.
TDP District President and Chilakaluripet MLA Prathipati Pulla Rao, Narsaraopet MP Modugula Venugopala Reddy and other leaders have worked out the tour details.
The TDP’s frontal organisations are also geared up to strengthen the party by extending support to the former chief minister. The police department faces the task of ensuring smooth passage of Mr. Naidu through the district.
