Telugu Desam (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu has demanded that the government withdraw paramilitary forces from Osmania University and condemned the police action against the students on the campus.

Talking to mediapersons before leaving on a three-day visit to West Godavari, Krishna and Khammam districts on Sunday night, he alleged that the government was harassing the students by booking cases.

He also reiterated his demand for action on the Srikrishna Committee report, saying the onus was on the Central and State governments and not the Opposition.

Flays Congress

He charged the Congress with creating problems in other parties over Telangana issue. It was enacting a drama and creating an impression that the issue was in the hands of Opposition parties. On its part, the TDP had not gone back on the resolution adopted on Telangana and it was for the Congress to take a decision on the issue, he added.

As the leader of a party present in all regions it was his responsibility to protect the party and respect the sentiments of people of all areas. Accordingly, the party leaders in different regions were acting as per people's wishes.

Farmers' woes

Naidu blamed the government for not resolving even a single problem of farmers though he had gone on fast for nine days, but it had withdrawn cases on students with one-day fast by Congress MPs.

The Centre had not even sent a team to assess the crop loss, he alleged.
