Demanding that an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) be ordered into the allocation of lands for the Kakinada Special Economic Zone (KSEZ), Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that the party was fighting against the project for long, but there was no response from the public. As part of his ongoing ‘Vastunna Meekosam’ Padayatra, Mr. Naidu interacted with people of Uppada and Pithapuram. He faulted the State government for allocating fertile lands for the KSEZ rendering the farmers landless and depriving the agriculture labourers of their daily work.

In response to a memorandum submitted by people that belong to ‘Kapu’ community, Mr. Naidu promised them a Rs.5,000-crore special package for the welfare of the community when the TDP was voted to power. He said that the TDP was there for providing opportunity to the Kapu youngsters in politics. During his interaction with farmers, he said that the Eleru modernization works would become a reality only when the TDP was voted to power in the general elections scheduled for the next year.

Unveiling the pylon arranged by the party’s Pithapuram constituency in-charge S.V.S. Varma in the town, Mr. Naidu said that thought the party’s foundation was planned at Pithapuram, it was celebrated at Pedapudi due to some last minute changes in the schedule. He said that Pithapuram town had a special place in his mind. Earlier in the day, Mr. Naidu interacted with the party workers from Mandapeta Assembly constituency and members of the Telugu Yuvatha from Pithapuram town and surrounding areas.
