People wait for TD chief for hours along ‘Mee Kosam’ route

Naidu takes 5 hours to commute 30 km

Promises to solve problems of women

CHILAKALURIPET (GUNTUR Dt): Continuing the spate of assurances being doled out during the course of `Mee Kosam’ programme, Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday promised to provide free gas connections to all those belonging to the poor and middle class sections of the society, free power up to 50 units, and increase old age and widow pensions to Rs.500.

Addressing a slew of road side meetings at villages dotting the Narasaraopet-Chilakaluripet State Highway on Day 8 of the mass-contact programme, Mr. Naidu promised that he would supply quality and uninterrupted power for nine hours during the day. He reiterated his plea to the farmers not to pay arrears of bank loans.

Beginning the tour a little after 10 a.m., he took about five hours to commute 30 k.m. as enthusiastic party workers urged him to speak at every small village.

Ironically in the native town of district party president Prattipati Pulla Rao, the response was lukewarm , while it was encouraging in Kesanupalli, Kanuparru, Ameen Saheb Palem, Avisaipalem, Gangannapalem, Yarlapadu, Kavuru, and Lingamguntla -- the party strongholds.

Milling crowds, surging youth driving motorcycles and women waving the party flag, waiting for hours along the road side were the common sight all along the route. “Just wait for one more year. All your problems will be solved because we will surely win elections and form the government,” he said.

‘It is viable’

Mr. Naidu reiterated that his promise of free gas connection to all poorer sections of the society is viable and pragmatic.

The availability of abundant gas reserves in the K.G basin would make his dream of providing free gas connection a reality, he told mediapersons.
