‘The party is misusing police machinery to suppress TDP agitations’
Vociferously condemning the “arrests” of Telugu Desam Party leaders including a few MLAs by the police in Karimnagar and elsewhere in the State, the TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu charged the Congress government with misusing the police machinery to suppress the TDP-led mass agitations against power cuts and “inept governance”.
“Our party leaders are being lodged in jails for agitating on people’s issues and the corrupt ruling party leaders are being shielded by the Congress government. Several TDP leaders are presently in jail for a public cause unlike the tainted leaders of the Congress party, who earlier landed in the prison for looting public money,” Mr. Naidu said.
Addressing a huge gathering at a road-side meeting in Kusumanchi en route Kokya Tanda as part of his Mee Kosam padayatra on Friday, Mr. Naidu alleged that the Congress government foisted false cases against the party legislators Kodela Sivaprasad Rao and Y. Srinivasa Rao for exposing the irregularities and murky deals of the ruling party leaders. “A false case has been registered against Paritala Sreeram, the son of late Paritala Ravindra, at the behest of the ruling party leaders,” he charged and accused the Congress regime of pursuing politics of vendetta against the TDP leaders.
“We will continue our fight against anti-people policies of this government, unfazed by the coercive measures, he said cautioning the persons at the helm of affairs with serious consequences if they failed to stop the “vindictive measures”. Those at the helm of affairs should either tender an apology for the power crisis or step down immediately, he said. Referring to a memorandum submitted by an electricity consumer against inflated “power bill”, he said the former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy and his successors are responsible for the present power woes.
The Congress government has destabilised all the crucial spheres including power and agriculture which were carefully nurtured and developed by the previous TDP governments, he said, reiterating that his party will revitalise all the damaged sectors within six months after retaining the reins of the State. Referring to the increase of liquor prices, he alleged that the Congress government was bent upon filling its coffers at the cost of public health. Taking a dig at the TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, he alleged that the latter had earned notoriety for politics of blackmail. Earlier, Mr. Naidu visited a photo exhibition on the crop damages organised by the Telugu Rythu district wing in the mandal headquarters. Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao, and Sattupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah took part in the padayatra.
