ONGOLE: TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu has demanded that the State government provide an interim relief of 30 per cent to its employees.

Keeping an eye on the employees, who were held up in the Collectorate due to dharna staged demanding proper supply of fertilizer to farmers here on Saturday, Mr Naidu reminded the employees that he had granted them an interim relief of 25 per cent during his stint as the Chief Minister. Mr. Naidu came down heavily on the government for steep rise in the prices of essential commodities like rice, dhal, edible oil etc that made lives miserable for poor people. “Are you able to eat a square meal?”, he asked the people who gathered at the dharna.

Saying that the poor are not able to buy rice even at Rs. 2 a kg, he demanded the government to supply free rice to them till situation improved on price front.
