Actor couple met Naidu for the purpose, ex-Chief Secretary S.V. Prasad tells CBI as witness in Emaar scam
Actor couple Krishna and Vijayanirmala had approached N. Chandrababu Naidu as Chief Minister with a request to delete their 14-acre club project from land acquisition proceedings for Emaar township and he had asked officials to examine their request “urgently”.
This was the submission of former Chief Secretary S.V. Prasad to the CBI as a witness in the Emaar township scam. Mr. Prasad said Mr. Naidu also desired that the officials submit a report on the plea of Mr Krishna and Ms Vijayanirmala but the Chief Ministers Office did not receive it for a long time, keeping the issue pending.
Therefore, the CMO did not clear deletion of land from the acquisition proceedings. However, he could not confirm whether the Chief Minister had issued oral instructions to revenue officials to delete the land from acquisition, he added.
The former bureaucrat also said the couple met Mr. Naidu in the matter a couple of times. On Mr. Naidu’s instructions, he wrote to then managing director of AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation L.V. Subrahmaniam and Ranga Reddy Collector B.R. Meena to inquire into the matter and submit a detailed report.
They should not initiate any action on land acquisition till the CMO received the report. After the change of government in 2004, the couple again took up the request with the incumbent Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, during whose tenure the draft notification and draft declaration with regard to the land lapsed.
