In a fresh bout of trouble in Telangana Telugu Desam Forum, its convenor, Nagam Janardhan Reddy has offered to quit after a senior MLA, Motkupalli Narasimhulu made it abundantly clear in public that he would not work under him.

The open confrontation of the two seniors shocked the party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu who had just on Tuesday bought peace with Dr. Reddy and allowed him to have his way and boycott the Assembly till “Million March” tomorrow.

Apparently not many in the party liked the “lenience” showed by Mr. Naidu towards Dr. Reddy who, in a rebellious mood, stalled the House on Monday.

Situation in the Forum has come to such a pass that it is vertically split between those for and against Dr. Reddy. They are being described as Dr. Reddy's and Mr. Naidu's groups. This was reflected in the Forum meeting convened by Dr. Reddy on Wednesday when only 17 of the 38 MLAs and three MLCs attended.

Besides Mr. Narasimhulu, A. Revanth Reddy too did not attend. They were others who felt let down by Dr. Reddy. Only these MLAs accompanied Dr. Reddy to the Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to take up the issue of “illegal” arrest of Telangana protagonists coming to Hyderabad for the “Million March”.

They say Dr. Reddy's bravado on Monday was uncalled for as it went against their collective decision not to attend the House. Their refrain was if he had taken them into confidence they too would have joined him in the protest.

“I will prefer to work under Prof. Kodandaram of JAC than Dr. Reddy” fumed Mr. Narasimhulu.

He said he had conveyed to Mr. Naidu his decision to stay away from the Forum meetings if they were convened by Dr. Reddy.

He wanted the Forum to be disbanded and replaced with a broad-based coordination committee headed by five or six leaders/MLAs. They should be given equal powers.

Perhaps sensing trouble, Dr. Reddy told media persons that he had already made the offer on Saturday but several MLAs had prevailed over him. He was only interested in fighting for Telangana cause by remaining in the party.
