Chiru's brother presents ‘Saare' to the deity as part of the annual ritual
TIRUPATI: Tirupati MLA Chiranjeevi's younger brother and actor Nagababu on Saturday participated in the ceremony where a set of ‘Saare' was presented to the local Gangamma temple on behalf of the TTD on the eve of the ongoing annual ‘Jatara' of the folk goddess in line with an age-old convention.
As per the custom, the Tirupati MLA will receive the ‘Saare' comprising -- a pair of silk vasthrams, turmeric paste, vermillion, glass-bangles -- from the TTD-controlled Govindarajaswamy Temple and carry it in a procession to the Gangamma temple where the priests would receive it with all honours and adorn to the deity.
Since Chiranjeevi, the Tirupati MLA, is currently engaged in his ‘Polavaram Yatra', he could not be present here for the ‘Saare' presentation ceremony and in his absence temple Executive Officer J. Ekambaram had to fulfil the protocol.
The official ‘Saare' apart, Chiranjeevi also personally sent a pair of silk vasthrams and other materials through his brother which was also carried in the procession and offered to the deity.
Nagababu as he walked along the procession with the temple authorities and fans, regaled the Jatara revellers with his ‘steps' by dancing to the rhythmic beats of the drums and pipes en route to the temple. In a brief interaction with the media at the temple, Mr. Nagababu said he already heard a lot about the famous Tirupati Ganga Jatara and considered it a privilege to present the vasthrams to the shrine on behalf of his brother.
