Members of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Lakshman Chatturvedi, J.K.Tandan and I.K.Bhattacharya are visiting the more than 150-year-old Mrs.A.V.N.College in the city during January 7-9 to assess the infrastructure facilities and the academic progress which is crucial for rating its academic excellence.

The college which is already enjoying a B++ grading status is now vying for ‘A’ Grade to become eligible for a higher UGC funding for its development.

NAAC members had in 2007 visited the college and they were impressed with the progress of the college and awarded 83 per cent marks and a B ++ grade. The college introduced several self financed vocational courses in 2012-13 academic year. The college is shortly launching Basic education career and vocational diploma courses. AVN College coordinator T.L.Ram Babu will be coordinating with NAAC coordinator Shyam Sunder during their visit. Indrani Jaggarao is the founder Vice-Chairman of the college in succession since 1860. Several eminent personalities Sir C.V.Raman and Revolutionary freedom fighter Alluri Seetharamaraju were students of the institution.
