VIJAYAWADA: A woman died under suspicious circumstances at her residence at Prasadampadu in the early hours of Tuesday.
The Patamata police identified the victim as Tammineni Sujita, 19, wife of Narendra Kumar, a businessman.
The police said that Sujita, a native of Ulikili village of Mandavilli mandal in Krishna district married Narendra Kumar a year ago.
On Monday night, the couple had an argument over a domestic issue.
In the early hours of Tuesday, Narendra Kumar found Sujita’s body hanging from the ceiling fan. A case was registered under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the Cr. P.C.
Held for ‘cheating’
The One-Town police on Tuesday arrested 50-year-old Santha Kumari alias Nanduri Mahalakshmi, a resident of Satyanarayanapuram, on the charge of trying to cheat the officials by impersonating as private secretary to Chief Minister K. Rosaiah.
According to the police, the woman went to Kanakadurga temple atop Indrakeeladri on Sunday evening and claimed that she was the private secretary to the Chief Minister. She demanded a VIP darshan for her and threatened the officials on duty with dire consequences if they did not concede her demand.
As the officials found that she was cheating them, they handed over her to the One-Town police.
The police registered a case under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 419 (Punishment for cheating by impersonation) of the Indian Penal Code.
