Unity among Muslim minorities, who constitute 14 per cent of the population in the State will be shattered if the bifurcation happens, A.P. Muslim Council leaders said on Saturday.
Muslims will suffer in case of bifurcation and Urdu will lose its second language status, APMC working president P. Khasim Khan said here in a meeting of Muslim minorities in Rayalaseema. APMC will launch a Samaikyandhra Sadbhavana yatra in Rayalaseema region on September 2, he said. The BJP will gain strength if the State is bifurcated and Muslims will lose security, Mr. Khasim Khan alleged.
Former Minister S.A. Khaleel Basha called upon Muslims to teach AICC president Sonia Gandhi and the Congress a lesson in the 2014 elections. Rayalaseema will be the worst sufferer if the State is divided, he said. Congress MLC and APMC president Shaik Hussain, APMC Secretary Syed Ahmed Peer Shahmiri and Prof. Iqbal Khusro participated.
