A 21-year-old- businessman, Syed Imran from Edi Bazaar in Old City, who went missing since October 1 was found murdered by unidentified persons at Amangal in Mahabubnagar district the next day, the police said.
The assailants also burnt the body of Imran to conceal his identity. The Amangal police registered a case of murder and after preserving the body for a few days in the mortuary, the last rites were conducted as no one came to claim it. However, the Santoshnagar police, who were trying to locate Imran after a missing case was booked analysed his mobile phone call data record and found that the last call was made from Jadcherla.
“We enquired with the police stations in Mahabubnagar and came to know that the victim was murdered and his partially burnt body was dumped at Amangal,” said Santoshnagar police station Inspector K.V.M. Prasad. Later, the police took the family members to Amangal where they identified the photographs of the deceased.
