VISAKHAPATNAM: The mystery behind the death of an aged couple at a lodge at the Simhachalam foothill early this month was solved with the arrest of accused.
Giving details to the media on Monday evening, Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) U. Ravi Prakash said that seven persons had checked into the lodge on May 5 and went to the temple. They vacated the lodge in the early hours of May 6.
After they left, the room boy found the old couple lying dead in the room.
K. Lakshminarayana of Kothuru mandal of Srikakulam district had two wives. He had one son and two daughters through his first wife. The son and one daughter died in an accident.
He had one son and one daughter through his second wife.
K. Suri, the surviving daughter through his first wife, and her husband Chinna made a false claim and cornered Rs.2 lakhs that was given as compensation to the accident victims.
Lakshminarayana, who was aware that his daughter had cornered the money, sought that she give him at least Rs.50,000. There was also a property dispute in the family.
Suri and her husband hatched a conspiracy and eliminated her father and his second wife (step mother) Mahalakshmi at the lodge.
Mr. Ravi Prakash said that the accused have also confessed to have murdered the children of Lakshminarayana through his second wife: Santosh and Dhana.
The bodies of these two are yet to be traced.
Gopalapatnam CI Bhargava Rao Naidu was also present at the media conference.
