The general body meeting of the Ongole Municipality on Saturday gave green signal for works relating to improvement of civic infrastructure at a cost of Rs 3 crore.

The meeting chaired by Muncipal vice-chairperson Gollamudi Nagalakshmi approved tenders for works to improve badly damaged roads and drains in the town with Central funds.

The Municipal Counil authorities had put forth proposals for additional Rs 5 crores for repairing civic infrastructure damaged because of the cyclone storm Laila on May 20.

With the Government promulgating a GO the Municipal Council, at its last meeting, had resolved to spend on civic infrastructure 50 per cent of the Rs 4.25 crores collected by way of regularisation and penalisation charges.
