They have not been paid wages for the last four months

KURNOOL: Municipal sanitary workers staged a protest here on Thursday for non-payment of wages for four months. The workers registered their symbolic protest with begging bowls.

Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) district vice-president Y.V. Ramana, who led the protest, said the workers who slogged day and night were not paid wages for four months. The families were depressed as they did not have even on the eve of festivals.

Mayor S. Raghurami Reddy, Commissioner Vandana Kumar met the workers’ representatives and promised to release two months salary by Friday and release the emoluments of surrendered leave and uniform allowance before Dasara festival.
