VISAKHAPATNAM: Magnus School of Business (MSB) has entered into an affiliation with the University of Mysore (UOM) for awarding post-graduate degrees in Master of Business Administration and Master of Computer Applications .

At a function organised by MSB here on Wednesday, Vice- Chancellor of the UOM, J. Shashidhara Prasad presented a profile of the programme. He discussed the changing scenario in business education and stressed on the importance of quality in education.

The number of students at MSB had increased from 600 in 2005 to 1,400 in 2006 across its eight centres in India. Renowned industrialist and syndicate member of the UOM, R. Guru emphasised the importance of communication skills in the field of management.

Increase skills

"Don't compromise on what you do and put your hardest efforts in your weakest areas," he told students. Dialogue and discussion, good communication skills, humility and dedication to work are the key assets to success, he added.

Mass programme

Senior professor of the department of Management Studies, UOM, P. Ananthan said professional management education today has become a mass education programme. "There are many players in the field and in order to survive, it is important for students to develop the competitive edge," he said. He stressed on practical approach to teaching and improving general knowledge.

Chairman of the Department of Management Studies, UOM, B.S. Vishwanath will be the coordinator for the programme. The University will monitor the examination schedules, curriculum, infrastructure and facilities at the college.
