Union Ministers, MPs and MLAs should mount pressure on the Congress leadership to obstruct the bifurcation of the State, Visalandhra Mahasabha president N. Chakravarthi and secretary Raviteja have said.
They were speaking at a ‘Nari Bheri’ organised at Puttaparthi Circle in Proddatur on Saturday.
As part of the programme, women in large numbers took out a rally from Proddatur Municipality office in protest against the State bifurcation move by the Union government.
Both the leaders said being scared of appearing before the people, who have been agitating for the past two months, the elected representatives are only making statements in the media in a bid to please the Congress leadership.
Proddatur Municipal Commissioner S. Venkatakrishna also demanded that the Centre give up the bifurcation move.
