Lok Sabha member Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi has stressed on strengthening higher education qualitatively in tune with the changing needs.

Inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of Maharajah's Post-Graduate College here on Friday, Dr. Jhansi Lakshmi said that there was need to sharpen hidden skills of students through concerted efforts and regretted that the nation was ranked at 227 {+t} {+h} position by the United Nations in education. Congratulating the faculty students for celebrating silver jubilee of the college, she sanctioned Rs.10 lakhs for an approach road to the college.

V.S. Prasad, former Director of NAAC, said that faculty members as well as students must have professional responsibility. Moreover, the students must also play a social transformer role. The tradition of treating education as a service had now become ‘profit-oriented'. He said that some 12 to 13 per cent of people in the age group of 1 to 24 years were having access to higher education .
