Divisional Railway Manager, Guntur, N.K. Prasad on Thursday inspected the works in progress relating to laying of concrete apron on platform no 5 and 6 at Guntur Railway station.
Expressing satisfaction over the pace of works, Mr. Prasad said the train movement to Tenali and Vijayawada would be restored on these platforms on January 13. Eight passenger train services that have been diverted to New Guntur Railway station for the past 11 weeks will be coming back to Guntur station, as per their original schedule, he added.
Railway officials also informed apron works on platform no -2 would be taken up in the next financial year. Works on second pit-line at Guntur would be completed by the end of March 2013.
The DRM also said a child care centre would be set up on platforms no 4 and 5 at Guntur station adjacent to Government Railway Police office.
The centre would serve as a rescue centre for runaway children.
The DRM was accompanied by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager M. Shyama Sundara Rao.
