KADAPA: Promoting literacy among Muslim minorities is imperative for ensuring all round progress of the society, Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy said on Saturday.
He gave away school uniforms to 30 orphan and poor Urdu students of Urdu high school at a programme organised by Mohd. Hayat Memorial Educational and Welfare Society here.
Urging Government teachers to sincerely teach students for achieving good results, he assured to mitigate shortage of teachers, class rooms and drinking water facility in schools.
Peethadhipathi of Khankah-e-Shahmiria Ahmed Peer Shahmiri called upon voluntary organisations to take up social service activities.
State Teachers Union President B. Subba Reddy exhorted teachers to strive to promote Urdu language.
He sought rationalisation and transfer of teachers before granting promotions in schools in municipal corporation schools. Urdu School Inspection Officer Abdul Rab stressed on inculcating discipline from primary school level.
