The city traffic police have requested motorists to avoid Rasoolpura junction in Begumpet and use alternative routes as barricades were placed on the main road for laying metro rail pillars. A press release here on Tuesday urged motorists to use alternative stretches like M.G. Road, R.P. Road, Tank Bund, Necklace Road and other routes during peak hours while proceeding towards Begumpet. Police said the entry for motorists proceeding towards Minister’s Road from S.P. Road would be restricted by closing the Rasoolpura junction partially. Vehicular owners coming from Begumpet have to go further and take a ‘U’ turn under the CTO flyover or take a right turn towards M.G. Road to reach Minister’s road. This initiative will enable the police to ensure hassle free traffic for those coming from Secunderabad and proceeding towards Begumpet main road without any obstruction at the junction.

Officials said works of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) were progressing at a fast pace and barricades were placed on the congested routes at S.P. Poad, Begumpet, S.R. Nagar and Punjagutta. Eight meters of space in the middle of the road was taken to put up barricades for the project. Carriageway was being extended by the GHMC and HMR officials wherever possible by taking up civil works such shifting of electrical poles, removal of buildings after paying compensation and relocation of religious structures besides reducing the pavements.
