The sudden rains that lashed the city on Sunday caught many residents, who hit the market to purchases commodities for Ganesh festival, unaware.

Youth welfare organisations’ members were put to lot of inconvenience due to the sudden showers while transporting the Ganesh idols. The pouring was so intense that roads were filled with water within a few minutes at many places. Complaints of water logging were reported from Nampally, Greenlands, Jubilee Hills, Falaknuma and Moazamjahi market. Complaints of tree branches collapsing were lodged from Mangalhat, Lakdikapul, Himayathnagar and Hakeempet.

Met department authorities said the capital received 15. 1 mm of rainfall on Sunday till 8.30 p.m. Authorities said there could be rain or thundershowers in many areas in the capital on Monday.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29.3 degree Celsius and minimum temperature at 22.4 degree Celsius.

The intermittent rains lead to a drop in footfalls at most of the picnic spots in the city with people preferring to stay indoors. The regular hustle bustle at cinema halls and restaurants was also missing. Activity at the roadside Sunday markets also took a beating due to the rains.
