WARANGAL: The Telangana Banjara Yuvajana Sangham has demanded that the State Government allocate powers to the District Tribal Welfare Officer.
Sangham president G. Sajjan Naik said that though the Tribal Welfare Officer was shifted from Eturngaram to the district headquarters, the Government was yet to give powers to him.
He said the officer plays an important role in the implementation of tribal educational schemes, supervising the tribal welfare schools and hostels. However, due to lack of powers, the officer was not allowed to oversee the functioning, he alleged.
Mr. Naik opined that the Tribal Welfare Officers in other districts were playing an active role in improving tribal education and in the implementation of other welfare schemes. The association also demanded that the officer formulate action plans for uplift of the community, supervise the sub-employment exchange, and budgetary control over the allocation of funds.
