Develop good relations with families in villages, field staff told
KURNOOL: Minister for Women and Child Welfare N. Rajyalakshmi has called for revamp functioning of anganwadi centres in the State. Some more centres will be introduced to cover the whole target population.
The Minister reviewed the various functions of the department at a meeting of officials here on Thursday. She told the officials to club women and child welfare programmes with the National Rural Food Security programme for better result.
She said Rs. 56 crore had been released for construction of anganwadi centres and the matching grant would be released by the Zilla Parishad. Ms. Rajyalakshmi asked the field staff to develop good relations with families in the villages so that their counselling would have an impact on the schemes.
Next month, the staff would launch campaign in support of breast feeding. Similarly, campaign against consanguine marriages and child marriages should be launched and birth control measures taken.
The Minister said a few senior citizens had come forward to offer their service to implement some of the programmes of the department.
She said the department could show the result only when officers and staff worked with zeal without sticking to office hours, because they had to work with rural population.
Principal Secretary Chaya Ratan, Director Anita Rajendra and others were present.
