A 46-year-old woman, K. Padma Latha, is absconding after her alleged plan to separate her son from his wife by implicating the latter in a ganja case boomeranged on Tuesday.
Police caught seven persons, were hired to execute the plot. An amount of Rs. 2.05 lakh and 1.45 kilo of Ganja were seized from the accused, the Commissioner’s Task Force Additional DCP P. Rameshaiah said.
Latha had objected to the marriage of her son K. Krishna with Sravani. She sought the help of a certain Sridhar to break the marriage and offered him Rs. 4 lakh and paid Rs. 3 lakh in advance.
Sridhar planned to send ganja to Sravani via courier service. Nearly one fifth of the 1.45 kilo ganja procured was concealed in a flower bouquet, TF (North) Inspector A.P. Anand Kumar said.
TF police intercepted Sridhar’s associates during a routine check and found them in possession of ganja. When grilled, the gang revealed their plan, leading to the arrest of the others.
