Campaign planned across all major towns of State
TIRUPATI: Telugu film actor and producer Mohan Babu was on a different mission on Tuesday. Taking some time off from the studio sets and the glare of the arc lamps, he led a `Cleanliness awareness and anti-HIV campaign' in his home ground, Tirupati, in the company of his actor son, Vishnu, and some top dignitaries of the temple city like the TTD Board Chairman, B. Karunakar Reddy, and the local Congress MLA, M. Venkatramana.
The rally being sponsored by the `Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Institutions' of which he is the Chairman, was flagged off amid a lot of fanfare at the SV Arts College grounds.
Addressing the rally, he said it sought to create awareness among the public on the need for a clean environment, sanitation, drinking water besides sensitising people against the dangers of the dreaded HIV. He said that the rally was only a beginning of a slew of similar awareness campaigns to be rolled out in different parts of the State in the days to come by the SVEI in collaboration with the Government and private agencies engaged in the line.
Students of SVEI who participated in the rally in large numbers, along with their faculty and non-faculty members, were seen counselling the public en route on the need to have a cleaner environment and sanitation besides distributing them anti-HIV literature, pamphlets and so on.
