When K. Udaynath bagged the 754{+t}{+h}rank in the civil services examination, it was not just his family that erupted in joy. In fact, residents of Kolapur village in Mahabubnagar district, celebrated the achievement. He is the first person from the village to clear the examination.

A software engineer, his ultimate goal was to clear the civil services examination. Even after failing in the first three attempts, Udaynath did not give up. His father K. Jogendranath is a retired teacher, and his mother K. Aruna is a housewife. “Last time I lost it by just 5 marks,” said Udaynath. He attended the free mock interview sessions conducted by Narayana Chaitanya IAS Academy. The academy invited several retired and serving IAS officers to deliver lectures and share their experiences. They also had individual interaction with candidates, said K. Padmanabaiah, dean of the academy. “All he had to do was make a few changes, particularly his body language and interactive skills. That’s where we helped him,” said Mr. Padmanabaiah.

Similarly, Ch. Harikrishna Reddy from Ongole attended mock interviews and sessions with experts at the academy. He secured the 427nd rank in his second attempt.

In all, 39 candidates attended the sessions in Hyderabad, said Sri Chaitanya IAS Academy Chief Executive Officer Y. Mohan Rao.
