Mock fire drill was conducted at ONGC Tatipaka Refinery Complex on Thursday in which preparedness of ONGC crisis management team and usage of high-tech equipment in case of emergencies was shown to the public.
During the mock drill, fire was simulated in naphtha storage tank at the Gas Collection Centre of Tatipaka. A message regarding the fire was sent to the district fire services group immediately. The fire rescue team of Razole responded and reached the Tatipaka Refinery Complex within 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, a hooter was blown to alert nearby habitants of Nagaram village and a foam umbrella and a water umbrella were created to show how the fire can be put out effectively. The entire exercise was completed within 25 minutes.
Later, P. Krishna Rao, Group General Manager-Asset Manager, ONGC, Rajahmundry, reached the site and addressed the media on the preparedness of ONGC to take on emergency challenges. He sought the cooperation of fire, district revenue authorities and the villagers to handle any kind of emergencies and eventualities.
