The district administration in coordination with the Hindusthan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Gas Authority of India (GAIL) conducted a mock drill on disaster management including gas leak control management at Narava village near here where the Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad gas pipeline is located.
The technical personnel created a climate of gas leak and handled the management of gas leak by effectively controlling the leak. The mock drill involving an hour and half operation was construed by local people for real. A tense atmosphere prevailed at the scene of mock drill. The local people heaved a sigh of relief after learning that it was a mock drill.
Addressing participants after conclusion of the mock drill Joint Collector Praveen Kumar said the mock drill of this kind was essential to test the disaster management skills of the personnel concerned and for being in a state of alert. GAIL deputy general manager U.P.Bhagath, HPCL senior manager A.K.Khare and north ACP Prasada Rao participated.
