The State government has allocated Rs.25 crore for the Andhra Pradesh State Kummari Salivahana Cooperative Federation Limited.

Member of Legislative Council from Vijayawada Ilapuram Venkaiah at a press conference here on Thursday thanked the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy for allocating Rs.25 crore for the cooperative federation. He said that the federation was formed in 2009 after his repeated requests to the successive chief ministers over the past three decades.

To overcome the problems of the Kummari Salivahana community formation of the federation was finalised when Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was the chief minister. The federation could not begin functioning due to political and other disturbances following the death of YSR, he said.

When he represented the issue to the Chief Minister he initiated the work and finally turned it into a reality. The federation, formed under the Ministry of Industries, was moved to the Ministry of Backward Classes through GO No.143 issued on October 16, 2012.
