As many as five candidates submitted their nomination papers for the Legislative Council’s East and West Godavari districts’ Graduates Constituency here on Friday. The election was scheduled for February 21.

Kate Subrahmanyam of Merakapalem in K. Gangavaram mandal, Rayudu Rajkumar of Kateru village in Rajahmundry rural, Karri Ramakrishna Reddy of Machavaram village in Rayavaram mandal, Kalidindi Ravikiran Varma of the city, and K.V. Suryanarayana Rao of Pandita Villuru village in Poduru mandal of West Godavari district submitted their nomination papers to the Returning Officer and district Collector Neetu Prasad.

Meanwhile, Gollapalli Venkata Rao of the city, who filed his nomination papers, told a press conference here hat he would accord top priority to address the unemployment problem if voted to power.

He said he would fight for the removal of ceiling on the upper age limit for State-level competitive examinations. He said he would also strive for setting up a university and government colleges of engineering and medicine in the Godavari districts.
