Legislators and OU students hold meeting on the campus
Congress MLAs prefer not to defend Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy at the meeting
“Did any of these so-called investors build any hospitals here?” questions PR leader
HYDERABAD: All the legislators from Telangana region should get their resignations accepted by the Speaker to create a constitutional crisis and that would automatically prompt the Centre to give separate Telangana State, said Telugu Desam legislator M. Narsimhulu on Monday.
Addressing the students and legislators of different political parties at Arts College in Osmania University, the MLA observed that it was time politicians stopped talking and started acting.
Plea to youth
“There is no need for any youth from Telangana to sacrifice life. It is sufficient if the 119 MLAs from this region get their resignations accepted by the Speaker,” he said amidst claps of the students.
The legislator from TD, which invited wrath of people in Telangana after its supremo and legislators from other regions made volte-face following Centre’s favourable announcement on Telangana, was apparently referring to his counterparts in ruling Congress party.
Mr. Narsihmulu said that he recently told Assembly Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy that legislators from Telangana were serious about their resignations. The Speaker went away with a smile and that showed no one was taking the resignations seriously, he remarked.
Interestingly, Congress MLAs R. Damoder Reddy, E. Ravinder Reddy, B. Saraiah and M.L.C., Indrasena Reddy, and legislators of other parties present at the meeting did not respond to the TD legislator’s remarks.
Mr. Ravinder Reddy said that leaders of others regions helped people Telangana unite. “Arch rivals P. Keshav and J.C. Diwakar Reddy joined hands after the Centre made positive statement on Telangana. On seeing their opportunism, all of us are naturally united for Telangana cause,” he said.
TRSLP leader Etela Rajender said deployment of police forces and usage of force cannot deter people of Telangana as they are ready to lay down their lives for its cause. He remarked that Chief Minister K. Rosaiah and police officials should recognise this and stop provoking students.
Anil Kumar of Praja Rajyam party ridiculed arguments that Hyderabad be made union territory if separate Telangana State was formed. “Did any of these so-called investors build any hospitals here,” he argued.
