Congress leaders continued their tirade against the Election Commission and the officials responsible for conduct of by-polls to Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies, accusing them of partisan behaviour.
Congress MLA G.Veerasiva Reddy (Kamalapuram) alleged that Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal had acted in a partisan manner and backed the YSR Congress Party leaders.
He distributed copies of a communication sent by the CEO to the Kadapa Collector Shashi Bhushan Kumar allowing two non-voters to stay put in Kokatam village on the polling day.
Alleging that the CEO had acted as an ‘agent' of the YSR Congress, he contended that two persons, G.V.Pratap Reddy, Village Revenue Officer, Kokatam, and B.V.Karun Kumar Reddy, sarpanch, Kokatam, in Kamalapuram mandal were allowed to stay in their houses in the village despite clear EC directions that non-voters should be sent away on the day of polling.
He said he had served a notice of breach of privilege against the Kadapa SP Tarun Joshi alleging that he was confined to his house on the polling day though there was no written direction. Stating that his privileges had been violated by the police, Mr. Veerasiva Reddy demanded action against the SP.
