Students under the banner of the Samaikyandhra Vidyarthi Joint Action Committee (SVJAC) laid a siege to the house of Congress MLA B.N.Vijaykumar here on Wednesday demanding his resignation for the cause of united Andhra Pradesh. Ahead of the July 12 meeting of Congress core committee, which is expected to discuss the vexed Telangana issue, the students insisted that the legislator put in his papers to put pressure on the Centre to avert the division of the state at any cost.

Perturbed over the reported statement of AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affair Digvijay Singh giving a hint that the Friday's meeting of the Congress Core Committee might take a decision on the sensitive issue, SVJAC State co-convenor Rayapatti Jagadeesh, who led the protest, opined that the time was ripe for all parliamentarians and legislators from Seemandhra to take a plunge into the Samaikyandhra movement.
