Pamarru Congress MLA D.Y. Das entered into a heated argument with Krishna District Collector Budhaprakash M. Jyothi over giving permission for a sand quarry in the district.
The MLA, who attended the ‘Prajavani’ programme, along with his followers, at the Collectorate here on Monday, said that the file relating to Seigniorage in Lankapalli village in Thotlavallur mandal was pending for a few months and accused the Collector of delaying the clearance of the file.
Mr. Buddhaprakash clarified that the Election Code of Conduct was in force for Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society elections and will look into the matter shortly. Not satisfied with the Collector’s words, the MLA said that the panchayat was losing Rs.1 crore revenue due to the negligence of the officials.
The MLA and the Collector exchanged heated arguments in full view of all the district officers. Protesting the behaviour of the MLA, the Collector left the hall.
Later, Mr. Das along with people of Lankapalli and Iluru villages staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate. The District Collector came out and invited the agitators including the MLA for discussions in to his chambers.
Meanwhile, the Krishna District Officers Association condemned the highhanded behaviour of Pamarru MLA D.Y. Das. Speaking to the newsmen, association president and Zilla Parishad CEO Kondaiah Sastry said that the officers will attend for duties with black badges on Tuesday.
Vice-President and Social Welfare Joint Director P.S.A. Prasad said that the association will submit a memorandum to the Chief Secretary to the Government over the rash and rude behaviour of the MLA.
