Cane Development Council at Vuyyuru Sugar Factory got a new Chairman on Monday and two of the ruling Congress party celebrated it with much fanfare at the inconvenience of travelling public on the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam section of National Highway No.9.
The swearing-in ceremony was to be held at the Vuyyuru Sugar Factory near here at 5.30 p.m. and a massive rally was planned from Kankipadu Junction, but the traffic got blocked for more than an hour and the District In-Charge Minister Thota Narasimham, who started from the State Guest house, at 5 p.m. could reach here at 6 a.m.
While traffic was smoothly flowing at one point of time in both directions on the narrow NH 9, the pilot vehicle of Minister Thota Narasimham created a third row to let the VIP’s vehicle move fast, but that held up traffic for about another 20 minutes putting several passengers in buses and cars to inconvenience.
The traffic towards Gudivada could be cleared after 6 p.m. as the District In-Charge Minister participated in the rally towards Vuyyuru – another 12 k.m. Secondary Education Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy along with a host of Congress leaders welcomed Mr. Narasimham.
