Minister for Agriculture N. Raghuveera Reddy on Wednesday assured the tenant farmers that suffered losses in the recent heavy rains that input subsidy would be provided to them in full. Identity cards would be issued to them to enable them to access such benefits without any difficulty, he said, speaking to reporters at Tarakaturu in Guduru mandals after a visit to rain-hit areas in eastern parts of Krishna district.

Mr. Reddy visited a few villages in Machilipatnam, Pedana and Guduru mandals. Assuring the farmers of extending all possible help, the Minister said that crops, houses and weavers' equipment in about 50,000 acres suffered damage in the heavy rains in Krishna district. He instructed the officials to begin enumeration without delay. While those paying premium under crop insurance would get compensation, others would get input subsidy. Once enumeration was completed, the lists would be scrutinised in village meetings for handing over cheques, he said.
