Minister for Backward Classes Baswaraj Saraiah blamed that the Congress government for not doing anything so far for implementing GO 610 or the Presidential Order to ensure justice to the people of Telangana.

He was speaking to presspersons after releasing a multi-coloured poster connected to a padayatra to be undertaken by Mr. Narender Goud, a Backward Classes leader in support of separate Telangana State right in his official chamber in the Secretariat on Tuesday.

When it was pointed by reporters present that he had to own up responsibility for non-implementation of the GO since he was a part of the government, he changed tack and said, “The government has implemented it to some extent.” He was reminded of the large repatriations of the employees to their native zones under the GO No 610 effected by the Rajasekhara Reddy government.

Mr. Saraiah said Mr. Narender Goud would undertake the padayatra through Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Khammam and Warangal districts, starting from May 20 and ending on June 10. The Minister would himself flag off the padayatra here on May 20.

Mr Saraiah said all the 11 Ministers, 12 MPs, 28 MLAs and 15 MLCs of the Congress met AICC general secretary Ghulab Nabi Azad earlier in the day with the sole request to prevail upon UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to begin the exercise to form Telangana State.

He expressed confidence that Mr. Azad would be able to fulfil the aspirations of Telangana people and recalled how he had convinced the Congress high command and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti on the need for having electoral alliance during the 2009 elections.
