HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K.Chandrasekhar Rao has lashed out at Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi for telling the National Integration Council meeting on Monday that Muslims were not in favour of a separate Telangana.

Addressing party workers from Jagtial, Cheriyal and Mancherial at the valedictory of a two-day training programme, Mr. Rao lashed out at the MIM for thinking that ‘the entire Muslim community was his own’. The TRS supremo also accused Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and the Congress of playing vote-bank politics to the hilt and said this was taking ‘appeasement’ too far.

Vital issue

“Whether anyone accepts it or not, the issue of Telangana has become too vital or any political party to keep mum. Even the Telugu Desam, which was for an integrated State for far too long has changed its stance and is now talking of the need for creation of a separate Telangana”, Mr. Rao said.

Mr. Rao criticised Congress leaders, especially MLAs, MPs and others who were elected because the TRS sailed with the Congress in 2004 for finding fault with the TRS now and dared them to contest against it in the general elections and win.
