Fatima, second wife of MIM Kanchanbagh corporator, Mohd. Mumtaz Ali, was found murdered in the latter's house at Hafeezbabanagar of Kanchanbagh on Tuesday, the police said.
Investigators have taken into custody the corporator's first wife, Shahida Begum, and her brother, Saleem Bin Bazahar, in the case suspecting their role in the murder. Fatima, along with her son, Munawar, went to the corporator's house in the morning seeking money from him to purchase a plot.
Munawar was born to her through her first husband whom she deserted following some disputes. The corporator married Begum, who lives in Shaheennagar of Bandlaguda, four years ago. Mumtaz was in the house when Begum came to meet him while her son waited outside.
As she didn't come out even after an hour, Munawar rang up on her mobile phone. As there was no response, he entered the house and went upstairs only to find his mother murdered with her throat slit. A blood-stained dagger was found in the room. The motive behind the murder was not yet known, but the police suspect that Begum nursed a grudge against Fatima after she got married to Mumtaz.
