Mild tension prevailed in two contiguous villages- Onterupalle and Nunevaripalle of the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Piler constituency on Wednesday when two groups reportedly locked horns over a land dispute.
Information reaching here said that the trouble was sparked when a realtor reportedly started levelling a piece of land near Dalit colonies which they claimed, they have been cultivating for the last 15 to 20 years, amid repeated representations to the authorities to give them the pattas for the land.
They were said to have given representation to the local revenue officials even during the recently-concluded ‘land festival’. With tension mounting in the two villages, amid claims and counter-claims , police entered the scene, seized the earth-movers and registered a case . Police pickets were also said to have been posted in the two villages to prevent any untoward incident.
