A section of parents of the children studying at the mandal parishad upper primary school at C Chintarevupalli village in V R Puram mandal took away their wards from the school on Thursday afternoon in a symbolic protest against what they called poor quality of mid-day meal.
According to information reaching here, some parents arrived at the school in the afternoon.
They complained about ‘substandard’ quality of food being served to their children under the mid-day meal scheme at the school in the remote village.
The aggrieved parents lodged their protest against the ‘failure’ of the authorities concerned to change the self-help group, which is presently implementing the mid-day meal scheme at the school. They left the school along with their wards after registering their protest. When contacted, the V R Puram Mandal Education Officer Balraju said the issue raised by a section of the parents would be communicated to the higher-ups for necessary action.
“I will enquire the matter with the staff concerned to ascertain the facts,” he added.
